Savor The End of Summer

The old adage is entirely true: time does (sadly) fly when you’re having fun…in the summer, of course! To make the most of those final, fleeting days, fill them with fun, sun, sipping and savoring. Print this list and rest assured you won’t feel as though you skimped when the school bell rings.

  1. Make iced coffee. Or better yet, an iced latte.
  2. Camp out…even if it’s just in the backyard.
  3. Watch the sunset…or sunrise if you’re an early bird.
  4. Sleep in!
  5. Stay-cation: turn your hometown into an adventure land.
  6. Lay on the grass and assign shapes and objects to clouds that float by overhead.
  7. Go to the farmer’s market or a local farm to pick fresh fruit.
  8. Make a smoothie with your fresh pickins!
  9. Catch a firefly.
  10. Eat a popsicle. Better yet, make a popsicle.
  11. Grow some veggies or herbs in the backyard. Try baby bok choy for an easy, end-of-summer option.
  12. Go on a family bike ride.
  13. Make a bird feeder out of a milk jug.
  14. Host friends and family for a weekend brunch-picnic.
  15. Let the kids make you breakfast (in bed, even!).
  16. Redecorate your sidewalk, using colored chalk or watercolors.
  17. Jump in a puddle.
  18. Build sandcastles — even if it’s in a sandbox!
  19. Make an entire breakfast meal on the grill – try breakfast pizza.
  20. Capture the moments on film; video or camera, either way works.
  21. Rollerskate (don’t forget shin- and elbow guards, and a helmet)!
  22. Play t-ball, soccer, frisbee — get out there!
  23. Sign up for a fun run with your family to support a local charity.
  24. Cool off with frozen hot chocolate.
  25. Pick flowers.
